Man Pleads Guilty To Gun And Drug Charges In West Virginia
MORGANTOWN, W.Va. (AP) - Authorities say a West Virginia man has pleaded guilty to selling methamphetamine and illegally possessing a stockpile of firearms.
U.S. Attorney Mike Stuart announced Tuesday that 24-year-old Deshaun Thaxton faces up to life in prison after admitting to the gun and drug charges.
Stuart says officers found 360 grams of methamphetamine in Thaxton's home in Dunbar. Officials also found a loaded AK-47 and two loaded AR-15s in the house. Thaxton told authorities that he owned the weapons to protect himself and his drugs.
He was prohibited from possessing the guns because of a prior felony conviction.
Thaxton is due to be sentenced in January.
