Worker Pinned By Falling Equipment At Plant In Harrison Twp.

BRACKENRIDGE (KDKA) -- A worker was rushed to the hospital after a piece of equipment fell on top of him this afternoon at a plant in Harrison Township.

The accident happened just before 4 p.m. at the Allegheny Ludlum facility.

The 26-year-old worker was up on some scaffolding when a steel plate, weighing anywhere from 1,200 to 1,400 pounds, fell on top of him.

He became pinned under the plate.

"He was trapped 80 feet up on scaffolding," said Chief Sean Jones, of the Citizens Hose Volunteer Fire Department. "We were able to use a crane and rope equipment to safely bring him down."

But other workers were able to remove the piece of steel, by the time rescue workers got there.

The man suffered a broken leg.
