Woodland Hills School Superintendent: "We Will Not Tolerate Violence On Our Buses"
WOODLAND HILLS (KDKA) -- Woodland Hills School District Superintendent Alan Johnson says two seventh grade boys have been suspended after they got into a wrestling match on board a First Student Transportation Co. school bus.
Johnson says the investigation into the incident is continuing, and the district is also looking into what action, if any, the bus driver took to curtail the incident.
"Kids were being violent on the bus, that's something we cannot have," Johnson said. "We will not tolerate violence on our buses."
Because of several fights last year, monitors were placed on about a dozen Woodland Hills' buses. Now, more teachers and para-professionals may be included as bus monitors, Johnson explained.

In a separate incident, Johnson said one of its buses on Monday had problems with a broken water pump. That's why the driver was spotted driving very slowly on the Parkway East.
"The driver is presently off the buses for the moment while we complete the investigation. We don't have any evidence to suggest the driver was intoxicated at this point or anything of that nature," Johnson said.
Dorothy Ervin, of Rankin, says her grandson, Marcus Hart, was on the bus Monday morning. He told her the driving was erratic.
Ervin says her grandson told her, "The driver was swerving side to side, children were frightened, and started to scream."
