Woman Battling Cancer Surprised With Trip To Disney World

PITTSBURGH (KDKA) -- The local non-profit organization, Jamie's Dream Team, is at it again; pulling out all the stops to help a young woman battling an aggressive form of cancer.

This time, however, Jamie and her volunteers orchestrated a huge surprise for 26-year-old Mary Pat Siess.  Mary Pat, an avid baker,  spent the day at Oakmont Bakery.

She thought she was there to bake a cake for a little girl with cancer.  She had no idea her brother, who's stationed at Fort Bragg with the 82nd Airborne, was right next door, gearing up for the big surprise.

"She has no idea I'm here, so it will be a hell of a surprise for her," said Specialist Robert Siess. "Never heard her complain about it once. Probably the toughest person I ever met in my life and ... about time we did something for her."

But her brother's visit wasn't the only surprise; Jamie's Dream Team also helped Robert plan a trip to Disney World for the whole family.

"I thought I was baking a cake for a little girl with cancer," said Mary Pat as she wiped away tears. "I want to help others who have cancer. I know what it feels like to go through that, and I was more than happy to come bake a cake for a little girl. This is more than I expected.  A lot more!"
