Woman Leads State Troopers On High-Speed Chase

PITTSBURGH (KDKA) – A woman in facing charges after she led Pennsylvania state police on a high-speed chase along State Route 422 early Wednesday morning.

Pennsylvania state police say 31-year-old Margaretta Askey was seen driving westbound in the eastbound lanes of State Route 422 in Armstrong County just before 3 a.m. Wednesday. When police began pursuing her, she took off and tried to flee from the state troopers. The chase went on for about 12 miles before Askey finally crashed in Butler County.

Police say at one point during the chase, Askey intentionally veered into the side of a police car as they attempted to slow her down and stop her.

No troopers were injured during the chase, but Askey was flown to UPMC Presbyterian.

Askey faces multiple charges, including fleeing and eluding, DUI and aggravated assault.
