Woman Gets Jail For Stealing Collectible Stamps From Work

PITTSBURGH (AP) - A Pittsburgh woman will spend 9 to 18 months in jail for stealing collectable stamps from the dealer she used to work for and selling some of them on eBay.

Forty-year-old Colleen Carroll-Dean was sentenced after pleading guilty to theft and receiving stolen property on Tuesday before an Allegheny County judge.

Investigators say Carroll-Dean worked for Creative Products International, which sold the stamps and other items, but went into business by selling some of the stamps on eBay. Prosecutors say police found dozens of pages of colorful and valuable stamps in her home in December.

Police say the stolen Bhutanese stamps were worth at least $266,000 and perhaps more than $1 million because some were especially rare.

She must also repay more than $160,000 and serve 10 years' probation.
