Woman Assaults Store Manager After Attempting To Steal Beauty Items, Hamburger Meat

INDIANA, Pa. (KDKA) -- A woman attempted to steal beauty items and hamburger meat from an Indiana store Friday afternoon and assaulted a man when confronted.

The incident happened just after 4:30 p.m. at Martin's Grocery Store on Oakland Avenue.

State police say 24-year-old Brittany Trausi, of Indiana, entered the store, selected various items from the beauty area of the store, then went to the meat department and took 2 rolls of hamburger meat. She then started to walk out of the store without paying.

According to state police, when the store manager attempted to stop Trausi from leaving, she turned around and hit him in the side of the chin. Store employees detained her until police arrived on the scene.

The total value of the items she attempted to steal was just under $60.

Trausi is facing retail theft and assault charges.
