Woman Arrested After Allegedly Pulling Gun, Taking Son From Father

PITTSBURGH (KDKA) -- A woman was arrested early Saturday morning in Garfield after she allegedly pulled a gun and demanded to take her 4-year-old son while he was with his father and his father's girlfriend.

Pittsburgh Police public information officer Sonya Toler says the incident occurred around 1:30 a.m. in the 5000-block of Kincaid Street. Officers responded to reports that a woman had a gun.

According to the investigation, a 23-year-old man and his 4-year-old son were visiting the man's girlfriend when 23-year-old Taylor Lee Bennett, the child's mother, showed up and demanded to take her son with her. Bennett allegedly pulled out a gun, and the child's father let her take their son and drive away.

Bennett was arrested at her home in Sheraden and charged with simple assault and recklessly endangering another person.

Toler says because there are no active court documents with child custody arrangements, the incident is not concerned a child abduction case.
