Man In Wheelchair Shot, Killed In Uptown

UPTOWN (KDKA) - A man in a wheelchair was shot and killed in the city's Uptown neighborhood late Sunday night.

According to police, the shooting happened in the 1400-block of Fifth Avenue just before midnight.

The victim has been identified as 28-year-old Jawan Tasker. He was found on the sidewalk with his wheelchair nearby and was pronounced dead at the scene.

No arrests have been made, but police are expected to interview at least two witnesses.

"We have possibly two witnesses that we will be talking to, but right now, we have very little information to go on as to who this person is, or what happened," Pittsburgh Public Safety Spokeswoman Sonya Toler said. "One of the two witnesses potentially saw a person running on foot. Of course, we don't know if that was a shooter or that was someone just trying to get away."

An autopsy is scheduled for Monday.
