West Virginia Couple Charged In 3-Year-Old's Death

HUNTINGTON, W.Va. (AP) - A Huntington couple has been charged with first-degree murder in the death of the woman's 3-year-old son.

Media outlets report 22-year-old Mariya Ajena Jones and 31-year-old Aaron Brendon Miles were charged in indictments unsealed Friday in Cabell County Circuit Court.

According to the indictments, they are accused of beating the child and failing to seek proper medical treatment for him. The boy's body was found at his residence on July 12.

Jones and Miles are being held on $1 million bond in the Western Regional Jail. Jail records didn't indicate whether they have attorneys to comment on the charges. The pair also faces multiple other counts, including child abuse and neglect. Miles is the boy's stepfather.
