The 2-mile police chase began on West Main Street.

Police say they were trying to stop Long in connection with an incident that happened Sunday night.

But investigators say Long sped away onto windy Coal Hollow Road, crossing into Alleghany County on Margaret Street.

The speed limit along this stretch is 25 miles per hour, but according to the police report speeds exceeded to 65 or 70 mph during the chase.

It was on Margaret Street where Long crashed the pick-up truck he was driving into the side of this empty house, ironically, a house Long once lived in.

Police say after crash Long took off on foot and was found up the road hiding in an abandoned house.

Paul Jones lives next door to that house.

"When I came home, there were like 20 police cars there," he said. "State police, West Newton, Elizabeth Township, and they brought him out put him in the car and left."

Jones says he has seen Long come and go around the neighborhood but doesn't really know him.

"They had that house down there all surrounded after they caught the man down there."

Long faces numerous charges including fleeing police, reckless endangerment and driving with a suspended license. His bond is set at $5,000.
