West End Bridge Closed Due To Police Activity

PITTSBURGH (KDKA) - The West End Bridge was closed in both directions due to police activity Thursday morning. .

Drivers were asked to use alternate routes, either the Fort Pitt Bridge, McKees Rocks Bridge, or Fort Duquesne Bridge.

Pittsburgh Public Safety says they responded to a call for a distressed male who had climbed the superstructure of the bridge around 8:30 a.m.

Negotiators were able to talk to him by cell phone for more than 2 hours.

He came down safely, Pittsburgh Public Safety says.
