Route 22 In Washington Co. Reopens After Fatal Crash

HANOVER TOWNSHIP (KDKA) -- The Washington County Coroner's Office was called to a reported fatal crash in Washington County.

The fatal, two-vehicle crash was first reported around 10:15 a.m. on the westbound side of Route 22 in Hanover Township.

According to emergency officials, at least two people were flown by medical helicopter from the scene.

The Washington County Coroner's Office says a driver was heading eastbound on 22 when they lost control of the vehicle.

The vehicle reportedly crossed the median and was hit by a vehicle traveling westbound.

The person who died was not wearing a seatbelt at the time of the crash, the Coroner's Office says.

According to Pennsylvania State Police, the crash was fatal and Route 22 was closed for hours. The road reopened just before 3 p.m.

The victim has not been identified yet. State police are investigating the crash.
