Washington Co. Man Arrested On Child Pornography Charges
PITTSBURGH (KDKA) -- A local suspected child predator was arrested Monday as a result of the Attorney General's efforts to target the online sharing, downloading and distribution of child pornography.
Michael Vaughan, 44, of McMurray, was taken into custody Monday and charged with six counts of possession of child pornography, one count of distribution of child pornography and one count of criminal use of a communication facility.
According to the Attorney General's Office, the criminal complaint says Vaughan sent an email that contained suspected child pornography. It allegedly included a file depicting minors engaged in graphic sexual acts and poses.
Agents and officers from the Canonsburg Police Department searched Vaughan's home and seized a laptop. The Attorney General's Office reports computer forensics agents found suspected child pornography on the laptop.
The case will be prosecuted in Washington County by Deputy Attorney General Anthony Marmo of the Office of Attorney General's Child Predator Section.
In addition to the Canonsburg Police Department, assistance in the investigation was also provided by Google, the Peters Township Police Department, the Allegheny County District Attorney's Office and the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children.
Vaughan's arrest is one of five child predator arrests made in Pennsylvania this week. The other four men arrested were: Robert Grubb III, 22, of York County; David Ziegler, 26, of Northampton County; David Kohut, 54, of Lehigh County, and Clark Collins, 48, of Susquehanna County.
