Car Shears Telephone Pole In North Huntingdon

WESTMORELAND COUNTY, Pa. (KDKA) – A car sheared a telephone pole and hit an auto body shop on Route 30 in North Huntingdon Township on Wednesday, and more than 1,000 residents were without power in the area.

As of 11 p.m., all residents had their power restored.

A Honda Civic traveling at a very high rate of speed left Route 30 and flew into a telephone pole, completely shearing the pole off.

The car then then hit a parked car that had just been repaired before slamming into Bill's Fix's Body Shop, causing minor damage to the building. The car did not penetrate the building.

Route 30 was down to one lane and there was a significant power outage in the area.

The driver of the car was taken to the hospital with what are believed to be minor injuries. Police are looking at the possibility that distracted driving could have been a factor in the crash.
