Vehicle Crashes Into Building In Shaler Township

SHALER TOWNSHIP (KDKA) -- Sunday afternoon at approximately 3:00 p.m., Shaler Police, Shaler-Hampton EMS and Hampton Fire Departments responded to a vehicle crashing into the Barrel Junction Restaurant on William Flynn Highway.

A father was driving the car with his son in the passenger seat and fell asleep at the wheel. The car then struck a utility pole and landed in the front entrance and porch area of the restaurant. There were no injuries, but they were taken to a local hospital for evaluation.

No patrons inside the building were injured.

The building will be closed until it can be evaluated and repaired.
