Man Shoots Ex-Girlfriend, Turns Gun On Self In Vandergrift Home

VANDERGRIFT, Pa. (KDKA) -- Police are investigating after a man shot his ex-girlfriend multiple times inside a Vandergrift home before he turned the gun on himself.

The incident happened just after 6:30 p.m. at a home in the 100 block of Grant Avenue on Wednesday.

According to police, Ronald Prettyman, 32, shot Chloe Kruse, 28, at least three times before shooting himself.  Both were rushed Forbes Hospital for treatment, but there is no word on their conditions.

Kruse is believed to have suffered gunshot wounds to the chest, abdomen and pelvic region.

The couple's relationship ended three months ago.

According to Vandergrift Police, three children were also in the home at the time of the shooting. They are now being cared for by their maternal grandmother who lives next door.

"There was three children in the house and all three were fine," said Vandergrift Police Sgt. Steve Callipard.

Vandergrift Police and Westmoreland County detectives are investigating.
