Uber Expanding To 7 Counties Surrounding Pittsburgh-Area

PITTSBURGH (KDKA) -- Good news for people living in counties surrounding Pittsburgh!

Uber announced Thursday its expansion to seven local counties: Washington, Greene, Fayette, Westmoreland, Indiana, Armstrong, and Butler.

According to a press release, as of 5 p.m. Thursday, people in those counties will be able to access rides.

The launch of Uber in these counties is reportedly part of a larger expansion throughout the state.

"With this expansion, we're now covering 93% of Pennsylvanians," said Jennifer Krusius, Uber's General Manager for Pennsylvania Expansion. "Uber is making it possible to push a button and get a ride in minutes, no matter where you are. With students gearing up for the fall semester, we think Uber can also help provide a safe alternative to drunk driving."
