U.S. Women To Face Costa Rica At Heinz Field

PITTSBURGH (KDKA) – While the United States Women's National Team is currently competing in the World Cup, a return to Pittsburgh is in the cards.

According to their website, the United States women will take on Costa Rica at Heinz Field on Aug. 16 at 1:30 p.m.

This will be the first match the team will play following the conclusion of the World Cup.

The match at Heinz Field will mark the second time USA will have competed in Pittsburgh. Their first game in Pittsburgh was a 3-0 win over Iceland in 2004.

It will also mark a homecoming of sorts for defender Meghan Klingenberg.

Klingenberg attended Pine-Richland and made her World Cup debut during a 3-1 win over Australia.

She also plays professionally for the Houston Dash of the National Women's Soccer League.

Tickets will go on sale at noon on July 1.

Last summer, Heinz Field hosted a Guinness International Champions Cup match between AC Milan and Manchester City.

Manchester City won the game in convincing fashion, 5-1.
