U.S. Open Brings Golf Fans From Near & Far To Oakmont
OAKMONT (KDKA) -- It may have looked like everyone was in Downtown Pittsburgh on Wednesday at the Penguins' Stanley Cup Victory Parade, but a few thousand people had golf on their minds.
A ticket to Oakmont, like the summer weather in Pittsburgh, is hot.
The opening rounds of U.S. Open don't get underway until Thursday, but the practice session also drew a big crowd.
When you have more than 150 of the world's top golfers gathered in one spot, it's like the biggest show in town. Fans follow these guys like they are rock stars.
"We brought my 15-year-old son with us, and we all are golfers and we love it," said Rhonda Clifford, in town from Philadelphia.
"It's a phenomenal course, phenomenal venue, just to see the world's best players at our doorstep is a phenomenal opportunity," said Iain Keir, a native of Scotland.

Players like Jordan Speith and Jason Day, just to name two, drew large crowds as they practiced on Wednesday afternoon. And the sea of fans wants to catch every swing.
When fans get the chance to get an autograph, they go for it.
The tournament and the course are bringing out golf fans from near and far.
"I'm from Greenville, South Carolina," said fan John Mackeil.
KDKA's Brenda Waters: What would you like to take away from this tournament?"
Mackeil: "The opportunity to see a course that's so world-renowned."
