U.S. Marshals Service Investigating Jury Duty Scams

PITTSBURGH (KDKA) -- Not many people like jury duty, but most of us answer the call.

The fear of what may happen if we don't is now being used against some people in the area.

Authorities say scammers are calling people, claiming to be U.S. Marshals, court officers or law enforcement.

They claim their target failed to report for jury duty, and to avoid being arrested, that person must pay a fine using a reloadable credit card.

The scammers even ask the person to share their own credit card number to start the process.

If this has happened to you, you're urged to contact the U.S. Marshals Service.
