Two People Hospitalized After Shooting In Ambridge

AMBRIDGE (KDKA) - Police are investigating after two people were shot in Ambridge Sunday afternoon.

A police officer also fired their weapon in the incident, according to Beaver County District Attorney David Lozier.

Lozier told KDKA the Beaver County officer-involved shooting policy requires an outside agency to investigate anytime an officer discharges a firearm.

Pennsylvania State Police is handling the investigation.

Police in Ambridge also responded and confirmed both people shot were taken to the hospital. There was no official word on their conditions Sunday evening.

First responders were called to the scene near Fifth St. around 2:10 p.m., according to Beaver County dispatch.

Police closed Fifth St. between Merchant St. and Melrose Ave. for several hours.

KDKA saw multiple evidence markers near what appeared to be personal belongings.

Deauntae Clark is a relative of one of the people shot.

He said his family member was alert and talking after the incident.

"You hear about it, but we never thought so close to home, something like this happening," Clark said. "I know he's very strong, very strong-willed young man, very strong in the Lord, so all of us have been praying for him. He asked for us to continue to pray for him."

Ambridge Police said no one was in custody Sunday evening.
