Two Killed In California Bat, Stick Fight

MARIN CITY, Calif. (AP) - Authorities say two people were killed and one critically injured after an armed fight broke out among a group of people at a large apartment complex in Marin City, north of San Francisco.

Marin County Sheriff's Office spokesman Lt. Doug Pittman originally said at least three people had been killed Sunday morning in a melee involving people with bats and sticks.

Pittman tells the San Francisco Chronicle (http://sfchron.cl/1mm6VT3 ) says it's unclear what started the fight, but he confirmed two victims were found near the entrance of an apartment. The third man was found nearby and taken to a local hospital with at least one gunshot wound and possible other injuries.

He says neighbors called police after hearing the fight around 10 a.m., and then several more calls came in reporting gunshots. Initial reports said sticks and bats were involved in the altercation.
