Truck Driver Fined $10,000 After Causing Greene Co. Bridge Collapse

PITTSBURGH (KDKA) – A truck driver from West Virginia has been fined $10,000 for causing part of an historic bridge in Greene County to collapse.

Jason Strawderman pleaded guilty to driving an overweight truck over the Pollocks Mill Bridge.

He was hauling fresh water to an EQT natural gas well pad last month when he drove over the bridge above 10 Mile Creek.

The bridge's weight limit is 8,000 pounds.

Strawderman's truck weight 33,000 pounds.

It's expected to take several weeks for engineers to determine the extent of the damage to the 136-year-old bridge.
