Truck Crashes Into Avella Home As Driver Tries To Avoid Deer

AVELLA (KDKA) -- No one was hurt, but a Washington County home sustained extensive damage when a truck came barreling through it Tuesday morning as the driver tried to avoid a deer.

Angela Hunter, 76, was sitting in her recliner, watching the morning news in her Avella home when a pickup truck crashed right into her home.

"The front end was into her living room," said Hunter. "It went through the dining room, into the bedroom and into the living room."

The driver of the truck was heading to West Virginia along Washington Pike. He ended up in the house because he didn't want to hit a deer.

First, he swerved to avoid the deer, and then a car coming in the opposite direction.

Bushes couldn't stop him and the wet grass just added to the momentum.

"He couldn't stop. He lost control," said Hunter.

The house was a mess, but neither Hunter nor the driver of the truck were hurt physically. It was more the shock of what happen that left both rattled.

For now, Hunter will be staying with her mother until the state of her house can be determined.
