Trent Green: Steelers Need An Intimidating Pass Rusher

PITTSBURGH (93-7 The Fan) – "NFL on CBS" analyst Trent Green joined "The Fan Morning Show" Wednesday to talk about the offseason that awaits the Steelers and the NFL playoffs, with the divisional round games beginning on Saturday.

Green said he expected the Steelers to be able to make a run this postseason, not to lose to the Ravens in the Wild Card round.

"I thought they were in a position to make a big run," Green said. "I was surprised that they lost, but being without Le'Veon [Bell] made a big difference."

In his mind, their biggest need this offseason is to bolster the pass rush that did not fare well during this season, especially during the playoff loss to the Ravens.

"They have to get that pass rusher," Green said. "They have to get that intimidating guy. When you talk about Dick LeBeau and that defense, there's always been one or two guys that have been able to pressure the passer and I think that's an important thing to be able to have, especially when you're facing [Joe] Flacco twice a year, you're facing Andy Dalton twice a year. You have to be able to get after those guys, because both those quarterbacks like to stretch the field and push the ball deep up the field."
