Tree Trimming Truck Crashes Over Hillside In New Sewickley Twp.

NEW SEWICKLEY TOWNSHIP (KDKA) -- A tree trimming truck crashed over a hillside in Beaver County Thursday morning.

It's expected to take hours to remove the Sidelines Tree Service and Landscaping truck along Willoughby Run Road in New Sewickley Township.

Crews are waiting for a large crane to haul the truck out.

But before that can happen, wires above need to be removed.

"We're going to get Duquesne Light to take down the electric lines above our head and Comcast is going to come in and drop that other line down," said Jim Scheck, of the Big Knob Fire Department.

It was just after 8 a.m. when officials say the driver was traveling too close to the edge of the road and essentially slid off before rolling on its side.

They say speed was most definitely a factor.

KDKA was told the driver was lucky. He climbed out of the truck with no injuries.

"That could've been a removal instead of, I mean he got out of it himself. He was probably shaken up coming up over that hill," said Scheck.

This was all going on while PennDOT was busy repaving the road.

KDKA has learned that crews can't get back to work until the truck is removed and the area is cleared.
