Travis Ishikawa Talks Journey From Pirates To Giants

PITTSBURGH (93-7 The FAN) - The Pirates opening day first baseman will be the Giants starting leftfielder in Wednesday's wild card game at PNC Park. It's been a strange six-month trip for Travis Ishikawa.

"Here we are on the complete other side of the clubhouse, it's what makes this game great," Ishikawa said.

Ishikawa, who won a roster spot in spring training, was released in April after the Pirates acquired Ike Davis. He then went to the minor leagues before joining the Giants. Ishikawa feels the Pirates treated him fairly.

"You know I think they felt that trade would make them better, and I can't fault them for it," he told reporters before the Giants worked out at PNC Park Tuesday evening.

Even though the Pirates struggled in his short stay with them, Ishikawa isn't surprised that they made it to the postseason. He said he knew they were a good team.
