Around 1 p.m. on Friday, crews told KDKA that Hazmat responded after 50 gallons of diesel fuel spilled at the scene on 35th Street.

Police say the trailer hit a utility pole, causing the wires to snap and fall down, sparking the fire. The crash sent workers scrambling from nearby buildings as they were immediately evacuated.

"The entire tractor-trailer was just engulfed in flames. Clouds of smoke in the sky. But everyone got here real quick to put it out," said Joe Kendjelic, who works nearby.

The driver escaped, and nobody was hurt. The crash remains under investigation.
