Tornado warnings expire after being issued for parts of Pittsburgh area

CBS News Pittsburgh

PITTSBURGH (KDKA) -- Two different rounds of tornado warnings for the Pittsburgh area have expired after being issued overnight.

Just after 3 a.m., a warning was issued for parts of Indiana and Westmoreland counties.

Earlier in the morning, the National Weather Service said that that radar-confirmed tornado touched down in Irondale, Ohio and Fairhaven, West Virginia around 1 a.m. as the storms moved through the area.

The National Weather Service says they expect at least one crew to be out surveying damage later today.

Flash flooding remains to be a concern for the region.

The National Weather Service says that storms like this could produce significant damage and you should move to a basement or an interior room on the lowest floor of a sturdy building. Avoid windows. If you are outdoors, in a mobile home, or in a vehicle, move to the closest substantial shelter and protect yourself from flying debris.
