Top Twitter Reactions To Simon Despres Scoring Game 3 Winner For Ducks

PITTSBURGH (KDKA) –The Pittsburgh Penguins bowed out in the first round of the Stanley Cup Playoffs this year, but a player they traded away had a big night on Thursday.

The Penguins dealt defenseman Simon Despres to the Anaheim Ducks for Ben Lovejoy at the Trade Deadline.

It was a trade that General Manager Jim Rutherford regretted.

Well, the Ducks are currently in the Western Conference Finals against the Chicago Blackhawks.

On Thursday, the Ducks took a 2-1 series lead thanks to a game-winning goal by Despres.

With about a minute to play in the second period, Despres riffled a one-timer by Corey Crawford to put Anaheim up 2-1 in Game 3. The Ducks would go on to win by the same score.

It was also the first playoff goal of Despres' career.

Naturally, Penguins fans and other experts on Twitter jumped at the chance to sound off about the trade.
