Tony Dungy On Steelers' Loss: 'It's One Of Those Wake Up Calls'

PITTSBURGH (93-7 The Fan) -- Sunday Night Football in America analyst Tony Dungy joined the Cook and Poni Show to preview this weekend's Steelers-Chiefs game.

The Steelers are coming off a 34-3 loss to the Philadelphia Eagles, and Dungy says he didn't see that coming.

"I was shocked," Dungy said. "I was very, very surprised by it. But I would not get overly concerned with one game."

Dungy, a Hall of Famer, says he has had games like this during his career and still went on to win a championship. That being said, it's not all perfect in Steelers Nation.

"There were some concerns for me watching it," Dungy added. "First, the Steelers didn't generate a lot of pass rush with their 4 man rush, and I think that is going to be critical for them; and secondly; they didn't run the ball."

Dungy expects that the return of Le'Veon Bell this week will help them be more effective running the ball, but they have to get a better pass rush to help their secondary or they could have additional problems moving forward.

He says if they fail to do that Sunday night against Kansas City they could be looking at a similar results as the Eagles game.

Despite all of that, Dungy says he feels the Steelers are still Super Bowl contenders.

"I don't think it's time to get concerned," Dungy said. "I think it's one of those wake up calls for them."
