Toddlers Learn To Ride Bikes In Station Square Race

PITTSBURGH (KDKA) – Toddlers are learning to ride bikes in the 2015 Strider championship series race through Station Square.

Strider make no-pedal balance bikes, designed to help children learn balance and steering.

Over the past month, the company hosted training sessions in Pittsburgh to train the young riders for today's race.

"The big issue is like getting kids on bikes, learning balance and coordination before they go on to that first bike, so we kind of skip training wheels and tricycles and get kind of dialed in, in that regard," said Ted Huettl, event director for Strider.

More than 100 children participated.

Strider bikes aren't just used by toddlers either – they're available for riders of all ages.
