Tim Williams: Expectations For Polanco Unrealistic

PITTSBURGH (KDKA 93-7 The Fan)- Pirates fans are clamoring for prospect Gregory Polanco to be called up to the big club, as he's hitting .400 with Class AAA Indianapolis. Tim Williams of PiratesProspects.com told Tab Douglas and Stacy Kauffman that calling Polanco up would not solve all of the Pirates' problems.

"There are a lot of problems with this team right now, and I think if you bring up a rookie with the expectation that he's going to turn things around, that's a lot of pressure on any one player," Williams said. "To bring somebody up with that kind of expectation, that's not really the right thing to do."

Williams said that Polanco is a five-tool player, and he has all of those tools developed or close to it.

"There are still some issues, he's had a few baserunning issues. I think that he could be a great baserunner, but he has been picked off several times to start the year. So there's some stuff to iron out there, there's some stuff to iron out in the rest of his game. But this is a guy who, he can do it all," Williams said.
