The Commoner Recipe: Tikka Masala

Chef Wyatt Lash stopped by PTL today to show off a delicious recipe off the new fall menu at The Commoner!

Tikka Masala

  • 1 Ea. Large Yellow Onions, Julienne
  • 1/2 T Cloves Garlic, Minced
  • 1/4 Tsp Large Piece Of Ginger Grated
  • 1/4 Tsp Garam Masala
  • 1/4 Tsp Ground Cumin
  • 1/4 Tsp Cardamon Pods, In Cheese Cloth
  • 1 T Curry Powder
  • 2 Ea Serrano Pepper, Minced
  • 4 T Brown Sugar
  • 1 Zest Lime, Plus Juice
  • 3/4 # Sweet Potatoes, Peeled, 1- Inch Cube
  • 1 Can Chickpeas(10.5oz)
  • 10 Oz Coconut Milk
  • 1 Ea Carrots, Peeled, Half Moon Cut
  • 1 12oz Diced Tomatoes
  • 2 T Sriracha
  • 4 Oz Heavy Cream
  • 4 Oz Vegetable Stock
  • 4 T Plain Greek Yogurt
  • 6 Sprigs Cilantro

1. In a heavy bottom stockpot over medium heat, add a small amount of oil and sweat all onions, garlic, and ginger with dry spices.
2. Add rest of ingredients, add small amount of vegetable stock to cover, if needed.
3. Cook on low, stirring occasionally, until potatoes are soft, about 40 minutes.
4. Adjust seasoning with salt and pepper, garnish with yogurt and fresh cilantro.

This recipe feeds approximately 4 people.
