Flying Out For Thanksgiving? Expect Long Lines At Pittsburgh International Airport

PITTSBURGH (KDKA) - Today is expected to be the second-busiest travel day of the Thanksgiving holiday week and a lot of those travelers are catching flights.
More than 30,000 people will head through security and board their planes at Pittsburgh International Airport on Wednesday.
With neck pillows, backpacks, and roller bags, bundled up travelers endured long lines and headed straight towards security.
"I'm on my way to Florida," said one traveler.
"I'm going to New Mexico," said another traveler.
KDKA found travelers headed anywhere from Jacksonville to Spokane, to Atlanta and Quebec, Canada.
Early Wednesday morning, lines stretched through the double doors and beyond the "people mover."
At the alternate security checkpoint, lines stretched the length of the tunnel and outside across the street.
"I heard you on the news yesterday talking about the line at 5 o'clock so I listened to you," said Tonya Starz.
Starz said she's glad she did. Her flight to Florida left on time, as did every other Wednesday morning flight.
Airport officials expect the next big rush to begin at 3 p.m. and last until 6 p.m.
With that in mind, officials are asking travelers to arrive at least two hours prior to their flight to make sure there is plenty of time to get through security.
