Teen Boy Injured While Zip Lining, Dies At Hospital

PITTSBURGH (KDKA) – A 13-year-old has died, following a zip lining accident at a friend's house.

Rex Smith, of McCandless, died at Children's Hospital this afternoon from injuries he sustained in the accident.

Our news partners at the Post-Gazette report that Smith was zip lining at a friend's house on Poor Richards Lane Sunday, when some sort of fastener holding down the line came undone and Smith was hit in the head.

He died after 2:30 p.m. at the hospital Tuesday, the newspaper reports.

His death was ruled an accident.
