Teen Accused Of Setting Fire That Injured 3 Family Members To Stand Trial

PITTSBURGH (KDKA) – A teen will stand trial after he allegedly set fire to his home, which badly injured three family members.

Trenton Greaves, 15, appeared in court Wednesday morning for a preliminary hearing.

Greaves is accused of intentionally setting fire to his family's home on Maitland Lane in Hickory Township, Lawrence County on Aug. 20.

At the time of the fire, the residence was occupied by 35-year-old Herbert Rodgers, 34-year-old Rosanna Rodgers, their 11-year-old daughter, Rosanna's sister 32-year-old Melanie Clark and her 3-year-old daughter.

Herbert Rodgers, Rosanna Rodgers and their 11-year-old were flown to a Pittsburgh-area hospital with serious burns. Clark and her child were not injured.

Greaves is Rosanna Rodgers' son.

According to a criminal complaint, Greaves' aunt heard about the fire and was on her way to the house when she spotted him walking along the road. He told her that he intentionally started the fire. At that time, the aunt drove him back to the residence.

Greaves told police he had felt "disrespected" by his parents and sister for years and thought they would be killed in the fire.

The teen was initially charged as an adult with the following offenses: aggravated arson, arson endangering persons, aggravated assault, simple assault, recklessly endangering another person, criminal mischief and attempted criminal homicide.
