Taurid Meteor Shower Could Continue For The Next Week

PITTSBURGH (KDKA) -- Cosmic fireballs could light up the skies for the next week.

The fireballs are often very bright meteors that last for several seconds and can light up an entire countryside when they're at their brightest. You may be able to see as many as five to ten meteors an hour.

The bad news is it's expected to be overcast Thursday night, so the clouds may block the view. But the good news is the peak starts Thursday night and lasts all the way until next Thursday, so you'll have other opportunities to see them.

There is no specific time of night that will bring more shooting stars than another. Just keep an eye out whenever it gets dark.

The Perseid meteor shower was supposed to be visible in August, and the Draconid meteor shower occurred in October.
