Port Authority Riders Deal With Delays While Crews Repair Break In Rail

PITTSBURGH (KDKA) -- Port Authority commuters dealt with delays Tuesday morning.

Crews discovered a small fracture in the rail at the Mount Washington transit tunnel. The Port Authority rerouted most traffic out of the tunnel to allow workers to make emergency repairs.

As of 10 a.m., crews had completed a majority of the work, which allowed inbound and outbound buses to use the tunnel.

While inbound Light Rail cars are able to use the tunnel, the outbound side is being detoured through Allentown.

The rest of the work is expected to be completed by this afternoon.

For more information on the detours, visit the Port Authority's website at this link.
