Man Charged For Death Of Infant Daughter Pleads Guilty To Manslaughter

PITTSBURGH (AP) - A western Pennsylvania man has pleaded guilty to involuntary manslaughter in the death of his 5-week-old daughter almost four years ago.

Allegheny County prosecutors dropped a child endangerment charge as 33-year-old Joseph Swidorsky entered the plea Monday. He will be sentenced July 16.

Swidorsky has been held in the county jail since October 2015 in the death of Braelyn Swidorsky.

Police said the Brighton Heights resident was bathing the infant in the bathroom in June 2015 when her mother walked in and found her blue and unresponsive. She died later that night.

Authorities said he told investigators the child suddenly stopped breathing, but witnesses said he gave differing accounts of her death, which a medical examiner said was due to a skull fracture and brain hemorrhaging.
