Shots Fired Report Prompts SWAT Situation On North Side

NORTH SIDE (KDKA) – A report of shots being fired on the North Side led to a SWAT situation Tuesday morning.

According to emergency dispatchers, the incident happened just before 9 a.m. in the 2600-block of Ellis Street.

Police were initially called to the area for a report of five to nine shots being fired.

"Somewhere around 9:30-9:40, we received phone calls that we had shots fired," Pittsburgh Police Spokeswoman Sonya Toler said. "With that, our officers arrived to the scene."

According to Pittsburgh Police, two women reported that a man had fired several shots at their car from a third-floor window in the home.

No one was injured, but the SWAT team was called in to check out the home.

Police eventually entered the home, but the suspect was no longer inside.

Police say they did find the gun and several shell casings near a window.

The suspect has not been found.
