Suspect In Northview Heights Teen's Shooting Arrested Again

NORTHVIEW HEIGHTS (KDKA) - A man charged in the shooting of a 16-year-old girl has been arrested again.

Police arrested 19-year-old Joseph Cleckley, Jr. on charges of aggravated assault, escape, reckless endangerment and giving false identification to police.

Officers on patrol recognized Cleckley in the Fineview neighborhood on Wednesday. Police say it appeared he had a gun in his waistband, before getting into a vehicle on Belleau Drive.

Officers followed the vehicle into an alley, where Cleckley got out and ran when he saw police.  According to police, Cleckley pointed a gun at an officer during the foot pursuit.

He was eventually arrested and police said he gave them a false name.

Back in August, Cleckley was arrested for the shooting of a 16-year-old girl in a home on Chicago Street in Northview Heights. He was charged with aggravated assault and reckless endangerment in that case.

He was released on bond on those charges.

A preliminary hearing on the shooting is scheduled for Dec. 17.
