Sunshine will help bump Pittsburgh-area afternoon temperatures near 50 degrees
Sunshine will return to the forecast today and help bump temperatures in the Pittsburgh area near 50 degrees.
Any Alert Days Ahead? Not right now
Aware: Yesterday's snow total was 0.2". For the season we have seen 34.0" of snow. This is -9.6" off of our 'average'.
Sunshine returns to the forecast giving us a brief reprieve from rain and snow for a day. Technically we will probably see less than 0.03" of rain being reported for today's almanac due to rain chances ramping up just before midnight.
Highs today will hit the low 50s with noon temperatures in the mid-40s.
Morning lows are back in the 20s with no additional chill in the air with light winds. Today will be sunny for most of the day. I have the afternoon partly cloudy with mostly cloudy to overcast skies being in place after 4 p.m. this afternoon.
The rain will continue on Thursday with rain totals of around half an inch expected for the day. Most of Thursday's rain will fall in the morning and specifically during the morning commute.
Thursday's rain will be the start of another fairly active period of rain and even snow in some spots. Most days won't be washouts. Friday is the perfect example of that where the morning hours are expected to be dry with rain to our south. Rain chances should return for the Laurel Highlands and the ridges early afternoon, spreading to other places the later into Friday we get.
Eventually the rain chance will change over to a snow chance overnight for higher elevations. Snow totals of more than an inch will be possible in some spots. That's impressive for this late into the season even for the Laurel Highlands.
Snow isn't done with Pittsburgh just yet
There appears to be another snow chance coming our way late Tuesday. It'll depend on just how quickly and far temperatures drop with another upper low heading our way.
Speaking of snow, yesterday's 0.2" of snow recorded at the Pittsburgh airport has bumped our seasonal total to 34.0".
This is still nearly 10 inches shy of where our 'normal' total would be at this time of the year. This is the most since 2022.
