Summer Could Bring Billy Joel, Beyoncé To North Shore For Stadium Concerts

PITTSBURGH (KDKA) -- The wind whips around the outfield and snow covers the seats now, but summer will bring back the Pirates and another attraction to PNC Park.

An official announcement is scheduled for Thursday morning, but sources confirm that Billy Joel will be toting his piano and band to the ballpark for a special concert on July 1.

It promises to be a full Fourth of July weekend of music on the North Shore which will feature Kenny Chesney the following night at Heinz Field.

So full, in fact, that the Three Rivers Regatta will host the fireworks on the Fourth, but organizers will be scheduling its full three days of events on the first weekend in August.

Sources also confirm that there are other stadium concerts in the pipeline this summer, that talks are in the works with Beyoncé for a Heinz Field date in late May.
