Students Injured In Butler Co. School Bus Crash

SUMMIT TOWNSHIP (KDKA) -- Five students from Summit Elementary School suffered minor injuries in a school bus crash Wednesday morning in Butler County.

The crash happened around 9:30 a.m. near Portman and Bonniebrook Roads, near Route 422, in Summit Township.

According to state police, the bus had just made the right onto Bonniebrook Road and was headed south when it began drifting into the oncoming lane. It hit the driver's side mirror of a pick-up truck coming in the opposite direction. Then, the bus hit the trailer the truck was towing.

The bus then hit a guardrail and ended up in the grass near the side of the road.

The bus was carrying 20 elementary school students. Five of them were taken to Butler Memorial Hospital to be checked out for minor injuries.

State police are investigating the accident.
