Strong Storm Brings Down Trees, Causes Damage Around Pittsburgh

PITTSBURGH (KDKA) – A strong storm Sunday caused some damage and knocked over trees.

People in the city only saw a few afternoon sprinkles, but neighboring areas experienced more extreme weather.

Strong winds brought down a large tree in Bethel Park near Braun Road. KDKA's Kym Gable reports the road was blocked until heavy equipment was brought in to move it.

Another large tree was also knocked down on Cochrans Mill Road in South Park.

And in Elizabeth, the winds knocked down the backside of a house, sending bricks tumbling into a woman's backyard.

Most of the KDKA viewing area was placed under a severe thunderstorm watch until 8 p.m. And for a brief period of time in the evening, Clarion and Jefferson counties were placed under a tornado watch.
