Just after 1 p.m., emergency dispatchers received a report that a vehicle had crashed over a hillside on Island Avenue near Thomas Street in Stowe Township.

According to county police, McKees Rocks Police found three passengers inside the vehicle, which was a red Chevy Equinox.

"The three passengers in there are all OK. One was ejected and sustained some serious injuries, but he's going to survive those injuries at this point," Allegheny County Police Inspector Andrew Schurman said.

That passenger was brought to a local hospital for injuries. The patient is in critical but stable condition, police say.

While on scene, police learned that the Chevy Equinox had been involved in the shooting.

According to police, the Equinox was chased by a Silver Ford Escape or similar vehicle. The occupants in the silver car fired numerous shots at the Equinox, which caused the driver to lose control and crash on Island Avenue.

Anyone with information on this incident is asked to contact Allegheny County Police at 1-833-255-8477.
