Stolen Cell Phone Helps Police Nab Vehicle Break-In Suspect

WILKINSBURG (KDKA) -- Wilkinsburg Police say GPS on a stolen cell phone helped them tracked down a man suspected in numerous vehicle break-ins across the borough.

Louis Adams, 55, of Swissvale, was arrested in the early morning hours of Wednesday. He is facing charges of aggravated assault, theft, criminal mischief, loitering and prowling at night.

According to police, officers caught up with Adams when one of the break-in victims contacted them to report his cell phone had been taken.

Police say they used the GPS to find Adams, who was driving a stolen vehicle at the time.

Adams was taken into custody after a vehicle and foot chase.

Authorities say they believe some of the items stolen in the break-ins were found in the vehicle.

Police say they are investigating whether Adams may also be responsible in other vehicle break-ins in nearby communities.

In Wilkinsburg, police say a total of 25 vehicles have been broken into.

Anyone else in the borough who has been the victim of a vehicle break-in is being urged to contact the Wilkinsburg Police Department.
