Report: Steelers WR Martavis Bryant Apologizes For Suspension
PITTSBURGH (KDKA) -- Reports say that Martavis Bryant is feeling remorseful following his suspension from the National Football League.
According to NationalFootballPost.com, the wide receiver released a statement that read, in part:
"I sincerely apologize to the Rooney family, the great Pittsburgh Steelers organization, coach Mike Tomlin, general manager Kevin Colbert, my teammates and all of the outstanding Steelers fans and, of course, my mother and children for what happened."
He reportedly went on to say that he is committed to "making this right" and realizing his full potential. He said he looks forward to resuming his NFL career, and promises to come back strong.
"Playing in the NFL is a privilege that I respect and my future actions will reflect just how seriously I take this game and the honor that it is to be a part of this league."
Bryant was suspended for the entire 2016 season for violating the NFL Policy and Program for Substances of Abuse.
Bryant burst onto the scene in his rookie season in 2014, making his first appearance in week seven and catching six touchdowns in his first four games with the Steelers.
On the season, Bryant helped get the Steelers offense to a new level as he contributed 26 catches for 549 yards and 8 touchdowns in just 10 regular season games.
